Privacy Policy
1. Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application “Ghost Reader” (the “App”), developed by Trofim Panasik (the “Developer”, “we”, “us”) for iOS and watchOS, handles information. It applies exclusively to the App. By installing or using the App, you acknowledge this Policy.
2. We Do Not Collect Personal Data
The App is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We do not collect, store on external servers, transmit, sell, rent, or share any of the following:
- Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, device IDs, advertising ID);
- The documents, files, text, images, or formulas you import into the App;
- Usage analytics, telemetric crash logs, behavioral analytics, or location data;
- Any other personal or sensitive user information.
The App contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and performs no network requests to the Developer or any third-party servers.
3. How Your Documents Are Handled
- Local Storage: Documents you add are parsed and stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework within the App's secure sandbox.
- On-Device Transfer: When syncing to your Apple Watch, files move directly between your paired devices using Apple's encrypted WatchConnectivity protocol. Data never passes through the Developer or any intermediary server.
- Offline Rendering: Conversion of PDF and Word files and rendering of mathematical formulas (via a locally bundled MathJax/LaTeX engine) happen entirely offline on your devices.
- Reading Preferences: Settings such as font size, chosen theme, and section search keywords are stored exclusively in local device storage (UserDefaults) and are never uploaded.
4. Permissions
The App requests access only to the files you explicitly choose to import via the standard system file picker. It does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, photo library, location, or health sensors.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party cloud, hosting, advertising, or telemetry providers. It is distributed through Apple's App Store; app downloads and any future updates are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, to which the Developer has no access.
6. Data Security
Because no data leaves your hardware, there is no server database that could be compromised. Your documents are safeguarded by iOS and watchOS security sandboxing, encryption, and your device passcode / biometrics.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13. As no personal data is collected or transmitted, the App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international regulations.
8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Privacy regulations such as the EU GDPR and California CCPA provide users rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because the Developer collects zero personal data, there is no personal data held on our side to retrieve or delete. You can delete all locally stored content at any time simply by removing documents inside the App or by uninstalling the App.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy occasionally. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
